AUSTIN, TEXAS (June 8, 2015) – Flood victims and relief workers in central Texas have received much-needed new clothes, clean-up equipment and cash contributions from the Austin office of legal-services firm TERIS.
TERIS made the donations to the Austin Disaster Relief Network, which is working with the Salvation Army of Central Texas after severe storms in May hit central Texas and brought record rainfall across the state. The unrelenting rain also caused massive flooding, particularly along the Blanco River in Wimberley and San Marcos in central Texas, which resulted in the unfortunate loss of life and destruction of property in surrounding communities.
TERIS donated more than 50 shirts, shorts, pairs of shoes and other clothing items valued at well over $1,000 to help central Texas residents who had lost everything to the floodwaters. The firm also supplied a chain saw, three water hoses and sprayers and two heavy-duty wire brooms, along with work gloves, masks, household cleaner and other supplies, for a total value of $300 in work items to be used in the ongoing relief efforts in these communities. In addition, the firm made a monetary contribution of $200 for the disaster relief network to spend as it sees fit on additional needs.
A full 100 percent of these donations will stay in central Texas. The donations are the latest in TERIS’ commitment to demonstrate its support for the communities that support the firm, its employees and its clients.
“Giving back to the community is part of who we are at TERIS,” said John Hartman, TERIS Principal. “We strive to always do the right thing in our business and non-business affairs. TERIS has been blessed by this very community, and stepping up to support those in need, and those who have supported us, feels really good. I can’t image the ways in which lives have been impacted by this devastating flood. It is heartbreaking; and we pray for a complete and speedy recovery for all involved.”
